What exactly Shopify sees now, why that is enough for accounting, and the path to payment inside the checkout.

What Mistok writes to Shopify

MutationResultLimitation
orderCreateManualPayment(amount, paymentMethodName)a SALE transaction with the method name (“plata by mono”, “Przelewy24”…), status Paid or Partially paid; shows as a separate line in Finance → Payments reportsamount for partial payments — Plus only; on other plans Mistok falls back to orderMarkAsPaid for full payment
orderMarkAsPaidSALE/CAPTURE for the whole outstanding balance, gateway “manual”no method name
tags mistok-paid, mono:<id>, noteslink to the payment in the bank’s account for reconciliation

There is no other way: the Admin API does not allow creating a transaction with a third-party gateway — only payments apps may do that. Shopify’s fraud analysis works only with card payments Shopify itself verifies; manual methods have none (anti-fraud is on the bank’s side).

The path to payment inside the checkout (Payments Apps API)

  1. Register a Shopify Partner organisation for a legal entity (LLC/sole proprietor, Estonian OÜ, etc.).
  2. Submit a Payments Platform Application (invitation-only programme; criteria are not published; replies take from weeks to 6+ months).Ukrainian integrators have been approved: TradeMinister, CartDNA/Nabeyond — their plata by mono / LiqPay / WayForPay / Portmone run as payments apps.
  3. Prepare PCI DSS SAQ-A, a risk policy, a 99.95% SLA and 2-hour incident response (Partner Agreement requirements, part C.4).
  4. After approval — sign the revenue share (the percentage is confidential; invoiced from $150 000 GMV/month).
  5. Build an offsite payments extension: payment_session_url, refund_session_url, capture/void, mTLS, idempotency, session resolution via the paymentSessionResolve/Reject mutations.
  6. Test in a dev store in test mode → app review (2–6 weeks) → Hidden state: installation via an install URL, activation by the merchant in Settings → Payments.
  7. Bill your own fee (like TM’s “0.4% developer fee”) outside Shopify — the Partner Dashboard has no mechanism for it.

Cost for the merchant: Shopify third-party fee 2% (Basic) / 1% (Grow) / 0.6% (Advanced) + the PSP fee. For a manual method (Mistok) the third-party fee is 0%.
